Specialty Systems started as a joint venture in 1979. The principles had left Fortune 500 corporations to form sole proprietorships in 1978. Specialty Systems was incorporated in 1982 as a closely held corporation and is still 100% privately owned.

SSI began as a systems house focusing on special requirements in our local area. Our "Specialty" was applying our years of data processing experience on mainframe and minicomputers to the new generation of microcomputers. When a customers requirements exceeded the available software, SSI developed application specific software to customer specifications.

One such job involved a completely integrated school administration and accounting system for a local private high school beginning in 1985. From this beginning school administration software has become our major business focus and now accounts for more than 90% of our business. We now have systems developed in Microsoft Access for both elementary and high schools.

Thinc Technologies was established in 1999 to be the marketing division for our developed software solutions. Specialty Systems, Inc. continues to provide custom programming and support services to our customers other than schools.
